*Sigh* :(

I have so much work to do and so little time to blog. Even though I doubt that you are, I'll pretend that some of you were wondering where I was these past 5 months or so. Well, I got a job! I was working every day. More recently, I've been looking for yet another job (because the job I got ends in June.) Also, I guess there is some pseudo travel news on the horizon - I need to find a new apartment!! Hooray!! Work!! Manual Labour!! Always fun! So, soon I'll be able to post some pictures of my old apartment (the one I'm in now), and whatever one I move to! Not quite as exciting as going on a vacation, but hell, it's something. Here's a picture of a beautiful mural on the side of a building on Bloor st. near Ossington. I truly believe that all murals must have a kitty in them somewhere. I hope to stay somewhere in that area when I have to move. The only problem is that the majority of apartments that we've looked at in that area are in basements with low ceilings. It's not a problem for us per se, but we do seem to have some very tall furnature that we might need to leave behind :(
And now for something completely different: My cats left a toy mouse for me in the spoon rest on the top of our stove. Did they want me to sautee it in butter for them? We may never know.

...And A Happy New Year!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas this year! No, I still have not done any travelling and will not be doing any for at least the next 6 months, as I start a new job at the beginning of January! Oh well, I still have some old vacation slides to post. But, that's not why I am here today! Today I'd like to share with you a glimpse of what Christmas is like at my house.

We'll start off with the Christmas Tree. (That's the tall, leafy thing you see wedged between a black guitar case and wooden shelving unit.) Because we have 2 cats, we can't have a traditional tree. (The cats would find a way to climb it and knock off all the lower ornaments.) So, I came up with the *brilliant* idea of decorating a regular fake tree. I think it's an elm. Anyway, we loved the idea so much we've done it for the past 3 years.
Also, because we don't have a regular piney-type christmas tree to put things under, we had to find another place to put the christmas presents. That place wound up being the dining room table. There's one of our cats pretending she's a christmas present. It's an awkwardly festive way of doing things.
Then there's the weather. Up here in Toronto, we don't just get snow at christmas, we get lots of it. It actually snowed so much, I woke up to find a pile of it on the INSIDE of our window. I've always wondered what it would be like to spend christmas somewhere where there was no snow - somewhere where it didn't even get cold....On Christmas day, I went to visit some of my family who live in Mississauga (2 towns over from Toronto). Recognize the lady in the red shirt? Read my posts from last August! All that snow made getting there lots of fun!
Their house is big enough and their cat is tame enough for them to put up a *real* christmas tree. The giant stocking you see in the middle was made by me when I was around 8 years old for my childhood cat Soda Pop, who has since passed away. It took 3 whole cats to replace her.
Here's one of them - Nova. She lives in Mississauga with my mom. Is it just me, or is that a giant cat?
Anyway, that was a really lazy re-telling of what last christmas was like for me. I wish I had more to give you, but I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I did. :( Oh well. Now we wait for New Years. Am I the only person who really really dislikes the period of time between Christmas and New Years? I find those 6 days extra boring for some reason.

Ah! An Idea!

At first, I was a little upset that I had no vacations coming up in the near future and therefore could not post anything interesting to my "travel" blog. Then I had a great idea! I have pictures and anecdotes from a whole lifetime of travel - all of which took place before this blog was started! So today I thought I'd share with you just a few of the photos I took over the years! This picture was taken by me in New York City. I literally just stuck the camera out the window and pushed the button. I was shocked at how well it turned out. It's the view from the Marriot East Side. I was there in 2003 for New Years Eve in Times Square.

This photo is looking north up the California coast. My mom and I were driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco up the Pacific Highway. I think this was in 2003 also (I have absolutley no concept of time). We're somewhere north of San Simeon, parked on the side of the highway.
I took this picture in Savannah, Georgia. I have no clue what that building is or why it's important - I just thought it was pretty. I stopped in Georgia while driving from Toronto to my cousin's house in Tampa, FL. I love Savannah, especially the park on the river - and all the spanish moss. This is a statue in some plaza in Havana, Cuba. I was there in 2005. I was staying in Veradero, and went into Havana with a tour group for the afternoon. Unfortunately, I have absolutley no clue what this statue is or in what part of town I was even in when I took it. I took so many pictures that day....anyway if you know what it symbolizes or why I would want to take a picture of it, please comment.

This is a picture I took in Nogales, Mexico, just after crossing the border. (If you can't read it, the sign says "Bienvenidos A Nogales"....Welcome To Nogales!) My mom and I were visiting Phoenix, AZ and decided to drive to Mexico for the day. My mom loves Mexican art, so we had a great time shopping in all the cool markets there.

Ok! That's it for now! I'll post more from the holiday highlight reel later. I have thousands of pictures to tide me (and you) over until I go on a trip again. First, I need to get a job....

Pout pout pout POUT POUT!! :(

Well, obviously I didn't win the bloggers choice award that I nominated myself for. (That's right, it was me, folks...) Ironically, the prize would have been a trip to Las Vegas, and since this is a travel blog, I would have blogged about it. There is not an emoticon for the injustice I'm feeling!!

However, in an ironic turn of events, I'm actually here to kind of re-direct this blog from a travel blog to kind of a regular blog...simply because I am not planning to travel anytime soon. I didn't want to not post anything because I'm not going anywhere. I don't do anything interesting when I stay in town, either.

I just learned how to bittorrent. I'm learney. Now I can see all the shows that I miss when I'm busy watching other shows...that I previously missed...

I told you I don't do much. You will be bored.

Dorval Days

So, I just arrived back in Toronto from my fantastic trip to La Belle Provence. Let's start where we left off, shall we?After posting my last...post...Heather picked us up at the hotel, and we headed out to Clints for night 2 of 2.There, of course, Bob hopped on stage and provided the "crowd" with a rocking version of "People are Strange," "Hey Lawdy Lawdy" and "Juvenile Delinquent" - a song that I got to help out on by singing backgrounds. This time, Kootch stayed in the audience and guarded our drinks.

Oh yes....I forgot to post this yesterday....

An artists interpretation of Bob and Kootch at Clints....pretty self explanitory...After the show, we met up with Bruce Allen, who escorted us back to our hotel (and stayed until 4 am.) Which was fine, until I realised that we had to leave the hotel by noon that day. We spent Sunday afternoon at Kootch's apartment while we waited for our train.(An actual panorama of Kootch's living room.)As you can see by the pictures, we obviously had far too much fun. Kootch told me all about his time in the navy (yes, the boy in the middle is THE William Trochim!!!!)...and how he still knows how to fold his clothes in a military fashion...Thrilling.

At 1700 hrs Kootch drove us to Dorval station, where we caught our train back to Toronto.

I always have such a great time in Quebec and am already looking forward to going back.

Until then,

Au Revoir.

Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir

I did it! I figured out a way to get some of the pictures on the internet. I just plugged my camera into one of the public computers in the lobby, and I had no trouble loading pics onto the blog! Impossible n'est pas francais.
So, let's start at the beginning....sort of....

We arrived at Clints just in time to see the opening act finish her last set. On the walls are replicas of the famous Montreal clubs - Le Mustache & The Edgewater being very important in the history of all Wackerdom.Al (very photogenic) and Heather joined Bob and I for dinner......While we watched Andrew Henderson and The Big City Band play. Amazing stuff - they do a great version of that Canned Heat song....you know the one.... Of course, the highlight of the evening was when Kootch and Bob stormed the stage to perform a few tunes. They started off with Little Queenie (I just noticed I'm on a French keyboard, and there aren't quotation marks. There are, however, accents and cedillas galore...) - a brilliant performance by Kootch.(Halfway through the song, he got hungy and tried to eat the microphone.) Followed by a rousing version of Hey Lawdy Lawdy, headed by our very own Mr. Segarini....With Kootch and Andrew singing backup. All in all, it was a wonderful evening that resulted in Kootch coming back with us to the hotel, and not leaving until 3 am.Good on ya, Uncle K!We're just getting ready to head out to Clints again for night two of the action. Word was circling yesterday that Juvenile Delinquent is being concidered for the Half-Wack tune tonight.

We'll see.
